Mission:  To answer your questions about how to behave like an adult with your money according to the Bible and to share other crazy ideas and talk about stuff I like to do.  Welcome to my blog!

Qualifications:  4 years working through baby steps 1 and 2, self-employed real estate professional, seasoned stupid-tax payer, born-again Christian.

Disclaimer:  I am passionate about spreading the word about good money habits in accordance with the teachings of the Bible, but I must make it clear that I am neither a certified financial planner, CPA, ordained minister, carnival ride operator, Attorney, nor professional free-solo climber.  You may or may not agree with my interpretations of what the Bible teaches about money.

Why?  Because I spent 35 years being stupid with money and then I met Dave Ramsey, who inspired me to start behaving like an adult with my money, and to become the FPU Coordinator for my church so others would hear the message.

Owing Money Sucks is about living life free and clear of the chains that bind you to your master, the lender.  I promote delayed gratification for the purpose of realizing greater things later in life.  My mentor and financial counselor is Dave Ramsey.  It’s okay, he said on the radio that I can say that.

There’s a Facebook page dedicated to Owing Money Sucks, and if you subscribe to this website, you’ll never miss out on the key ingredients to building wealth and winning with money God’s way.

There’s an errant philosophy that many people share regarding ones ability to risk more earlier in life for greater security later in life, but this is a fallacy because risk is often not calculated as part of the equation.

I promote Dave Ramsey and his products here, along with the Baby Steps to Financial Peace, as they have completely transformed my previously incorrect perception of financial freedom into real wisdom about how money works and how to make it work for you.

This is a hobby of mine, but I’m so passionate about the principles that it has become far more than a hobby.  It has become part of my purpose in life.
