I just read four articles on random blogs found through the Entrecard network, which is quickly losing its appeal.  I see one of the reasons.  For any of us to expect that someone’s “blog” is an authority on any topic can easily be dispelled the very second we sense the writer has no idea what he or she is talking about, nor has a clue about how to effectively use the English language to communicate in an intelligent manner.

The big news for the day is that there is no “get rich quick” scheme that survives long enough for you to get rich.  By the time you have pored over the materials written by those who have gone before you, the very ideas they tout are already obsolete.  My advice to you who believe you can get rich quick is to stop.  Stop writing about it.  Stop trying to do it.  You’re just making yourself out to be a fool in the wrong industry.

What do I mean by that?  Well, we aren’t all writers.  We aren’t all poets, artists, mechanics.  We cannot be something we are not which is precisely the reason there are thousands of websites jumping on the “I-can-do-it-too” train.  Guess what, Pablo Picasso, if your purpose on this planet is to do something other than paint masterpieces, then put your paintbrush down and find what you’re supposed to be doing.

My initial goal with The Executive Apprentice was to develop a catchy name and look to test out the waters of the “money making blog.”  My mortgage is due.  Need I say more?  Like anything else in life, if you would do it for free, then you probably have something of value that someone else will pay for.  I love writing because I’m fairly good at it.  I was a creative writer in high school, and I pursued writing music and also photography in college.  I became a network administrator and am now a Realtor, but that’s beside the point.  My personality dictates that I must exercise my creativity in whatever industry I have chosen.

What I want to be sure of is that I’m pursuing the right avenues to ultimately provide the value to someone else who is willing to pay me for my skill sets.  Writing about making money blogging is not what you want to be doing if you aren’t able to spell and/or use grammar properly.  There is, of course grace extended to other nations who don’t speak English fluently.  I raise my beer to you for trying.  But, to the rest of you who start your sentences with “but,” it’s time to pursue your passion so one day you actually will have something of value to write about.
